St William's Food Pantry

Our parish supports those in need in our community via the St William’s Pantry at 67 Dawson Parade, Keperra.  If you would like to contribute something nice for the kids to receive please add biscuits, tinned fruit or the individual servings of fruit.

The normal pantry staples like pasta and sauce and toiletries are always welcome.

Small Groups

Small groups meet for studies during Lent and Advent.

Choir

The Mustard Seeds is a small, long-standing choir that has been part of the church community for many years, guided over time by a number of capable leaders. The group’s main focus is to support and enrich worship through thoughtful, well-prepared music that complements the message of each service. Their repertoire includes both traditional hymns and contemporary pieces, chosen to encourage reflection and participation. Just as importantly, the choir provides an opportunity for members to connect, rehearse, and share in the enjoyment of singing together, building friendships and a sense of fellowship that extends well beyond Sunday mornings.

Garden Groups

The Fifth Mark of Mission of The Anglican Church is-

To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth.

Our garden care helps us towards fulfilling this Mission.

 Parish Gardening Groups

The Parish has beautiful grounds at both church sites but their presentation could not be more different.

St Matthew’s, which is more than 150 years old still reflects the time it was built. It has a grave yard and is home to the Parish Memorial Garden.

All Saints , in contrast has a more modern church but part of the grounds reflect a time before settlement, it has remnant Dry Scleropyll Forest, ferns and Wildflowers growing, such as Native Bluebell and Goodinia. It also seems to be a resting place for a variety of birds passing through.

St Matthew’s has a small gardening group, who meet regularly to tend to The Memorial Garden and Grave Yard. We are fortunate to have help from the Brisbane Bunya Lions Club to keep the grass mown and edges trimmed.

All Saints holds a  Working Bee morning on the third Saturday of the month. There’s always grass to mow, edges to trim, leaves to rake and weeding to do. We enjoy sharing morning tea together, the highlight being Wendy’s buttered slice and Peters coffee.

We have one gardener, Margaret, who looks after the garden surrounding the church entrance. She has planted brightly coloured Gerberas, pink flowering garlic and yellow buttons to delight the senses as we come into church.

The Regeneration Group formed a few years ago to begin building upon the already present remnant Dry Sclerophyll Forest and reclaim areas of weed infestation. We engaged a consultant from Kumbarcho Nursery to help us draw up a long term plan for the grounds. Most of our tube stock is obtained from Kumbarcho. We also grow some plants ourselves, especially Lomandra and barbed wire gras.

We are laying down paths in certain areas to make the grounds more accessible for people who would like to explore and for those attending Quiet Mornings.

We are pleased with our progress to date and get much satisfaction from what we do.

Some Stone Curlews have called our grounds “Home” for many year.

Mother's Union

Mission Statement:

Sharing Christ’s love by encouraging, strengthening and supporting marriage and family life.

We are part of an Australia wide and World wide organisation.

We meet on the third Wednesday of each month from February to November in  St Matthew’s Hall, Church Road, Mitchelton.  We sometimes have guest speakers at our meetings, speaking on a range of topics to suit the activity we are doing.  We collect Toiletry Packs for Anglicare’s home away from homelessness centre once a year. Give donations for School packs for disadvantaged families.  We also make up Joy Bags for the sick and people in need of cheering up.

Mothers Union supports 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence.
